About the Role:
I am looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Part-Time Finance Officer to support the financial operations of a busy and diverse organisation. This role involves a wide range of accounting, payroll, and administrative duties, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Finance and other stakeholders to maintain accurate financial records and support budgetary planning.
I am looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Part-Time Finance Officer to support the financial operations of a busy and diverse organisation. This role involves a wide range of accounting, payroll, and administrative duties, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Finance and other stakeholders to maintain accurate financial records and support budgetary planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day financial and administrative support.
- Maintain and reconcile nominal ledgers using a finance management system.
- Process payroll for over 100 staff using payroll software and spreadsheets, including pensions and P11D administration.
- Ensure compliance with financial directives, regulations, and internal policies.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports and returns.
- Perform weekly payment run checks, authorise BACS/Faster Payments, and ensure correct coding.
- Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations (e.g. payroll, creditors, debtors).
- Monitor and report on budget allocations and expenditure, advising on potential over/underspends.
- Administer payroll and pension accruals, and produce related analysis and returns.
- Support year-end audit preparation and final account adjustments.
- Extract and manipulate financial data using Excel or Access for reporting purposes.
- Liaise with third parties to resolve financial queries and ensure timely task completion.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong experience in financial administration and payroll processing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Ability to learn and use bespoke financial systems.
- Experience in budget monitoring and financial reporting.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of auditing practices (public or non-public accounts).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
