Hays Senior Finance is partnering with Cobalt Medical, seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Finance Manager to lead our Finance Team and ensure the smooth running of our financial operations. This is a pivotal role within the organisation, offering the opportunity to make a real impact in a respected charity that delivers vital services to the community.

About the Role

As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the production of monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts.
  • Leading the development of accounting systems, controls, and reporting frameworks.
  • Supporting operational teams with integrated business solutions.
  • Ensuring regulatory returns are completed accurately and on time.
  • Managing and developing the Finance Team, fostering a culture of high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Deputising for the Finance Director when required, including attending SMT and Board meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line management of the Finance Team, including performance reviews and wellbeing support.
  • Maintenance of accurate accounting records and systems.
  • Preparation of audit files and SORP-compliant statutory accounts.
  • Oversight of financial controls, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support for budgeting, pricing reviews, and financial modelling.
  • Liaison with auditors, insurers, bankers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Attendance at Finance Committee meetings, including report preparation and minute-taking.

What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in financial leadership.
  • Strong understanding of charity finance, including SORP and Gift Aid.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage across all levels.
  • Experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
