Interim Finance Business Analyst – Children’s Services £25 per hour | Hybrid (Remote possible) | Full-time | 3-month contract | Immediate start

Are you an experienced Finance Business Analyst with a background in local government? We’re recruiting for a temporary opportunity within a Children and Families Finance team, supporting the Children’s Travel Service.

This is a fantastic chance to apply your financial expertise in a meaningful area, helping to shape services for children and young people. You’ll be working closely with service managers and senior stakeholders, providing financial oversight, strategic input, and budget monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead budget monitoring and forecasting for the Children’s Travel Service
  • Provide financial challenge and insight to operational teams
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior stakeholders
  • Support savings plans and service reviews
  • Ensure compliance with funding conditions and internal controls
  • Contribute to ad hoc financial projects and cross-directorate initiatives
  • Liaise with external partners (e.g. SEND and Health) on joint funding arrangements
✅ What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
  • Proven experience as a Finance Business Partner in a local authority
  • Strong understanding of public sector funding and budget management
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence non-finance colleagues
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Desirable:
  • Experience in Children and Young People Services
  • Knowledge of transport-related budgets or services for children with additional needs
  • Understanding of joint funding arrangements between SEND and Health
