With over 40 years’ experience, Wheelers is an employee-owned business specialising in Electrical, Heating, Plumbing and Fire Security Systems that has gone from strength to strength in recent years, seeing turnover grow as a result of winning new projects based from their head office in North Somerset. There is now an opportunity to recruit a new Finance Director into the business to be a key member of the senior leadership team and play an influential role in driving its strategic direction for years to come.
Your new role
Reporting to the Managing Director and acting as a trusted advisor, this role is key to ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the business for years to come. This will play a key role as part of the senior leadership team, helping to drive company strategy, operation and value. Key to the role will include:
- Member of the Board of Directors, attending meetings and ensuring statutory compliance
- Work with the leadership to develop business strategy, goals and values.
- Lead on all things finance, including management accounts, financial reporting and the leadership of the team.
- Calculate and support costings of project to ensure their financial viability
- Be a trusted advisor to the business, holding regular contract reviews with contract managers and wider operations teams.
- Act as a substitute cover as required for the Managing Director at trust board meetings
- Point of contact for all external stakeholders, such as banks, finance companies, insurance brokers etc.
- Managing Tax compliance
- Proactively look at areas for development and improvement for the business.
What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for a qualified accountant with a commercial outlook that either has a track record in a senior financial position or is looking to take on their first director-level role. You should be able to communicate with a variety of different stakeholders and be confident getting out to the business, ensuring you are actively supporting in all areas of the business. An additional benefit would be if you had been through different types of business transformation.
