2. Your New Role
As Finance Assistant, you will play a key role within a busy accounts department, supporting both day‑to‑day finance operations and month‑end processes. Your responsibilities will span a broad mixture of accounting and administrative duties, including:
- Processing high volumes of sales invoices and maintaining accurate records.
- Managing customer portals to ensure timely submission of billing information.
- Taking charge of credit control, including chasing outstanding debt and resolving payment queries.
- Ensuring customers comply with agreed payment terms and carrying out routine credit checks.
- Supporting month‑end reconciliations, including nominal postings, balance checks and reporting.
- Processing purchase ledger and subcontractor invoices, alongside completing supplier statement reconciliations.
- Reconciling multiple bank accounts and monitoring company credit card transactions.
- Creating and updating Excel‑based reports for internal use.
- Assisting with general accounts and administrative tasks as required within the wider finance function.
This is a varied position suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes, and working in a dynamic environment.
3. What You’ll Need to Succeed
To excel in this role, you should ideally demonstrate:
- Previous experience in an accounts support or finance administration role (3+ years preferred).
- Working knowledge of accounts systems (Sage 200 desirable) and experience with CAFM or similar operational software.
- Strong IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Ability to manage workload independently while contributing to team goals.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt within a continuously improving environment.
- A proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and confidence engaging with internal teams and customers.
- Background within construction or facilities management would be advantageous, though not essential.
