Finance Officer, Transactional Finance, Ballymena

Your new company

A large public sector organisation with a strong regional presence is seeking a Finance Officer to join its Financial Management division. You’ll be part of a supportive, fast-paced team responsible for providing essential financial oversight across multiple service areas.


Your new role

As a Finance Officer, you will support a wide range of financial management duties, contributing to the effective financial oversight of the organisation. Working closely with a Finance Analyst, you will assist in maintaining robust budgetary systems, ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting managers across the directorates.

You will support a broad range of financial management activities, including:


  • Supporting the development and maintenance of effective budgetary control systems

  • Preparing and inputting approved changes into financial systems

  • Assisting in the production of financial reports and investigating variances

  • Creating and maintaining budget reports and structures for managers
  • Providing financial guidance, information and training to budget holders
  • Carrying out variance analysis and ad hoc expenditure investigations
  • Processing payroll and non-pay expenditure adjustments
  • Assisting with staffing establishment updates and funding identification
  • Undertaking additional duties appropriate to the role and grade

This is a full-time position based in Ballymena, with the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative and supportive financial management team.

  • Previous finance or accounting support experience
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities
  • Experience with financial systems and reporting tools
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Confident communication skills with the ability to support budget managers
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and manage deadlines
