A large public sector organisation with a strong regional presence is seeking a Finance Officer to join its Financial Management division. You’ll be part of a supportive, fast-paced team responsible for providing essential financial oversight across multiple service areas.
Your new role
As a Finance Officer, you will support a wide range of financial management duties, contributing to the effective financial oversight of the organisation. Working closely with a Finance Analyst, you will assist in maintaining robust budgetary systems, ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting managers across the directorates.
You will support a broad range of financial management activities, including:
Supporting the development and maintenance of effective budgetary control systems
Preparing and inputting approved changes into financial systems
Assisting in the production of financial reports and investigating variances
- Creating and maintaining budget reports and structures for managers
- Providing financial guidance, information and training to budget holders
- Carrying out variance analysis and ad hoc expenditure investigations
- Processing payroll and non-pay expenditure adjustments
- Assisting with staffing establishment updates and funding identification
- Undertaking additional duties appropriate to the role and grade
This is a full-time position based in Ballymena, with the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative and supportive financial management team.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous finance or accounting support experience
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities
- Experience with financial systems and reporting tools
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident communication skills with the ability to support budget managers
- Ability to work effectively within a team and manage deadlines
