- Support skilled tradespeople in completing Mechanical, Electrical, and Building tasks.

Are you a hands-on problem-solver who thrives in a role that offers variety, autonomy, and purpose? Our Estates Operations Team is recruiting a dedicated Estates Maintenance Operative to support the safe and efficient running of facilities critical to patient care.
What You’ll Do:
You’ll perform a wide range of semi-skilled maintenance tasks across mechanical, electrical, and building disciplines—often with minimal supervision. From routine repairs and inspections to supporting the work of trades staff, you'll be central to maintaining Trust premises and services.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing unsupervised repairs such as replacing taps, toilet seats, and fluorescent lights.
- Assembling furniture, fixing ironmongery, unblocking drains, and maintaining ventilation systems.
- Supporting plant operations including boilers and dual fuel burners.
- Using digital systems (e.g. CAFM, compliance software) for scheduling, record-keeping, and time management.
- Conducting statutory checks, reading meters, and monitoring environmental controls.
- Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in workshops and waste areas.
- Ensuring safe working practices in sometimes hazardous or physically demanding environments.
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a mechanical, electrical, building trades, or estate environment.
- Proven ability to confidently use hand tools and equipment suited to a maintenance setting.
- Experience in an industrial or commercial environment with basic knowledge of plant operations.
- Comfortable reading and interpreting instructions, drawings, and specifications.
- Must have a valid CSR Card
- Hold UK Clean driving licence
- Hands-on experience using appropriate tools in a maintenance setting.
- Familiarity with plant equipment, ideally in an industrial or commercial environment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively across teams and departments.
- Ability to work independently with initiative, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong sense of self-management in prioritising daily tasks.
- Willingness to undertake additional training, such as CSR Card certification, to stay compliant and effective in the role.
- A flexible approach to duties and scheduling to meet the evolving needs of the post.
