Your new role
As a Mechanical Estimator, you’ll play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive tenders for mechanical building services projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Visiting sites to assess and cost mechanical works
- Preparing estimates using Excel or similar software
- Requesting and managing quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
- Reviewing drawings and specifications to clarify any uncertainties
- Creating detailed cost breakdowns including materials, labour, and travel
- Participating in internal bid reviews and client meetings
- Writing clear and professional tender documents
- Supporting project handovers to the delivery team
- Tracking tender progress and following up for feedback
What you'll need to succeed
- BTEC ONC/HNC in Building Services or equivalent
- Minimum 5 GCSEs including Maths
- Strong Excel and Microsoft 365 skills
- Good understanding of mechanical systems in buildings
- Excellent communication and attention to detail
- Commercial awareness and ability to suggest value engineering ideas
