Are you an experienced estates leader looking to make a meaningful impact on healthcare? Our client, a respected healthcare organisation, is seeking a Senior Estates Manager to lead the operational estates function at a major facility in the Darlington area. This is a key leadership role where you’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of estates and engineering services that directly support patient care.

Your new role

  • Lead the delivery of operational estates maintenance and backlog programmes.
  • Support long-term strategic planning for building and engineering services.
  • Oversee performance monitoring of service providers and contractors.
  • Provide technical support for clinical engineering and medical device management.
  • Manage capital projects from planning through to delivery and handover.
  • Act as the Designated Person for technical services (e.g. Water, Medical Gases, HV/LV).
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and health & safety requirements.
  • Lead audits, reviews, and reporting for assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Champion sustainability initiatives including energy, carbon reduction, and waste management.
  • Manage estates-related risks, defects, and business continuity planning.
  • Coordinate compliance reporting including PAM, ERIC, and CRC returns.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Extensive experience in estates or facilities management within healthcare or similarly regulated environments.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of HTMs, building regulations, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven track record in managing capital projects across all RIBA stages.
  • Relevant technical qualifications in engineering, estates, or building services.
