Project Escort – South London Prisons
Are you interested in supporting construction projects within a secure environment? Hays is currently recruiting Project Escorts to assist with new building and remedial works taking place across prisons in London.

Key Responsibilities:
- Escort and supervise contractors and builders working within the prison grounds, ensuring their safety and adherence to all security protocols.
- Booking in and escorting all contractors, tools, vehicles, and equipment within the establishment.
- Conduct thorough security checks on contractors, tools, equipment, and materials entering and exiting the site, maintaining an up-to-date tool list.
- Liaise effectively with prison staff, facilities teams, and contractors to coordinate access and work schedules.
- Maintain constant communication via radio or other means, keeping accurate records of all personnel in your charge and their movements within the site.
- Report immediately any breaches of security, safety protocols, or suspicious incidents.
- Support emergency procedures, including evacuations and first response to incidents.
- Respect the rights and dignity of prisoners and maintain professional conduct at all times.
Skills and Experience / Soft Skills Desirable:
- Previous experience in security, supervision, or customer-facing roles is advantageous but not essential; full training will be provided.
- High attention to detail with strong security awareness and foresight to anticipate and mitigate risks.
- Reliable, trustworthy, diligent, and punctual
- Excellent team player with the ability to communicate clearly and maintain order.
Important Information:
- You will need to undergo a high-level vetting process, including Basic DBS and Level E1 security clearances.
- This clearance is transferable across similar prison environments.
- This is a long-term temporary contract with the opportunity to work regular full-time hours and possible overtime.
