National Director of Sales and Marketing
Location - Nationwide

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an accomplished and visionary National Sales and Marketing Director to lead the development and execution of our UK sales and marketing strategy. This high-impact executive role is pivotal in driving revenue growth, expanding market share, acquiring new customers, and elevating brand visibility. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead a national sales team and oversee the marketing function, ensuring alignment between commercial execution and our company values and long-term vision. Your leadership, strategic insight, and data-driven approach will be key to achieving ambitious sales and performance goals.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies that deliver revenue growth, margin improvement, and long-term success.
  • Lead marketing initiatives including digital campaigns, PR, events, and product marketing to enhance brand recognition and customer engagement.
  • Own the sales pipeline, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management to optimise commercial results.
  • Champion a customer-first culture, improving the customer journey and retention through data-driven insights and CRM excellence.
  • Build and nurture strategic customer and partner relationships to grow business opportunities.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent communication and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Drive a high-performance sales culture focused on continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and commercial discipline.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Sales and Marketing teams, establishing KPIs and succession plans to build future leadership.
  • Oversee compliance, risk management, health & safety standards, and uphold company values of fairness, equality, and respect.
  • Foster innovation by exploring new technologies and market trends to improve customer service and business performance.

WHAT HCM ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven senior leadership/Director/Executive experience (5+ years) in sales, marketing, or commercial management, ideally within construction/plant machinery equipment sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading teams through periods of change and transformation
  • Strong track record in developing and executing national sales and marketing strategies that drive revenue and margin growth.
  • Demonstrable P&L ownership with commercial acumen in pricing, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams and building high-performance sales and marketing functions.
  • Expertise in CRM, sales pipeline management, digital marketing, SEO/SEM, and analytics-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Strong strategic thinker with a customer-first mindset and experience driving NPS and customer lifecycle initiatives.
  • Commitment to ethical leadership, health and safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Full UK driving licence.

DESIRABLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

  • NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Safety Certificate, or equivalent health & safety qualifications.
  • Experience with business management systems such as ISO9001, ISO45001, and ISO14001.
