Your new role

As the Welding Engineer, you will play a key role in overseeing welding processes, procedures, and compliance across the site. You will work closely with production, quality, and design teams to ensure all welded components meet required standards and are delivered to customer specification.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing, reviewing, and approving Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Providing technical support to welders and production teams on welding techniques, materials, and best practice.
  • Conducting weld inspections and ensuring compliance with relevant codes (e.g., ISO, ASME, EN standards).
  • Supporting customer and third‑party audits, ensuring documentation and certification are up to date.
  • Leading root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions relating to weld quality issues.
  • Driving continuous improvement across welding operations, including training and process optimisation.
  • Supporting new product introduction, advising on weld feasibility, joint design, and material suitability.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of welding processes such as MIG/MAG, TIG, MMA, or automated welding systems.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO 3834, EN 1090, ASME IX or equivalent standards.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across departments.
  • Desirable: CSWIP, PCN, IWS/IWT/IWE or similar qualifications.

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive salary package with company benefits.
  • Opportunity to work in a technically challenging environment within a growing organisation.
  • Clear routes for professional development, training, and accreditation support.
  • A collaborative team culture and modern engineering facilities.
