Overview: A leading UK-based manufacturer is seeking a Test and Development Engineer to join its engineering team. The company operates across multiple advanced manufacturing sites and has a long-standing reputation for producing high-quality products and being a market leader in what they do.
This role is based at the company’s modern design facility in Deeside, with regular travel across their different sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in validating new products and systems, ensuring they meet rigorous internal and external standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead validation activities for new products and systems, ensuring designs are fit for purpose and testing is completed within agreed timescales
- Collaborate with design teams to develop and manage plans
- Conduct physical and mechanical testing, accurately reporting results against defined criteria
- Ensure compliance with relevant local and international standards, as well as internal technical specifications
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment and facilities, ensuring safe and efficient operation
- Document all testing activities and maintain up-to-date records for management review
- Develop a suite of standardised tests for use across product lines
- Liaise with external test facilities when additional capabilities are required
- Work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, purchasing, and marketing teams
- Identify future testing needs and support the development of new capabilities
- Maintain professional development through ongoing training
Candidate Profile:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (alternative qualifications or extensive industry experience will be considered)
- Proven industrial experience in component or systems testing within a mechanical environment
- Strong technical report writing and project planning skills
- Practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving
- Flexible and enthusiastic team player with a proactive attitude
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Willingness to travel between sites and stay overnight for proving ground testing
