9-month Fixed Term Contract | HR Advisor

Your new company

A regional public service organisation dedicated to public safety and emergency support. They are currently seeking an experienced HR Advisor to provide maternity cover, joining a collaborative HR team of six and supporting approximately 600 employees.

Your new role

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will provide consistent, specialist human resource advice and guidance to the service, support the education and development of all employees and effectively resolve people management issues. Ensuring alignment and consistency of HR practice across the service.

You will:
  • Provide professional, consistent, accurate, timely advice and guidance on the interpretation and implementation of HR policies, practices and statutory requirements.
  • Promote best practice and actively contribute to the education and development of managers and colleagues to enable them to understand and effectively deliver HR practices.
  • Support the implementation of strategic initiatives and operational delivery of services across the organisation.
  • Contribute to management of absences, conduct and complaints.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of key HR policies, procedures and guidance to meet service needs.
  • Review and analyse HR metrics and data to identify trends and interventions to support HR practices and promote the use of metrics and a performance management culture with service managers.
This role will require travel to office sites in Carlisle and Penrith, in addition to home working.

Working hours 9am-5 p.m., reduced hours will also be considered.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Membership of CIPD or demonstrable experience.

  • Extensive generalist people management knowledge.

  • Experience of providing advice and guidance on core HR practices to support the employee life-cycle.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and legislative frameworks.

  • Knowledge of sourcing, analysing and utilising key HR metrics

What you'll get in return

  • Annual salary of £38,000, increasing to £39,000 after 6 months.
