Hays Property and Surveying is seeking an Employer's Agent to join an independent construction consultancy.

The company is a well-established and independently owned construction consultancy who provides multidisciplined services across the South of England. Their strong track record of delivering construction projects within the residential development and affordable housing sector has allowed the business to build and establish long-standing relationships with a portfolio of clients, supporting them via their London and regional offices with professional and proactive advice.

Due to an increase in client demand and growth, the business is now seeking an experienced and driven Surveyor to act as an Employer's Agent. The role can be based at their Southampton or West London offices, with flexible working available.


Your new role

As an Employer's Agent, you will be responsible for advising and delivering on a range of construction and development projects, predominantly within the residential and affordable housing sector. This is a client-facing role seeing you responsible for overseeing the projects from inception to completion, providing contract administration, and ensuring delivery in line with quality, cost and agreed timelines.

Key Responsibilities –

  • Acting as Employer’s Agent on a range of residential and affordable housing schemes
  • Managing contracts, specifications, and project documentation
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Monitoring progress, quality, and compliance throughout the construction lifecycle
  • Preparing reports, valuations, and contract administration duties

What you'll need to succeed

  • MRICS qualified preferred, or working towards, but not essential.
  • A relevant degree in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying or Construction Project Management.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, working within a construction consultancy / surveying practice.
  • Preferably, hold experience of working on projects within the residential development / affordable housing sector.
  • Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and contract administration.
  • Excellent communication and proactive, client-facing skills.
