EC&I Engineer

Senior EC&I Engineer – Industrial & Nuclear Projects

Overview
A leading engineering services provider is seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Engineer to support major projects within the nuclear sector. The organisation delivers complex engineering solutions across highly regulated industries and welcomes applicants from backgrounds such as oil & gas, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, and other process‑driven environments.
This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, contribute to safety‑critical systems, and play a key part in multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of EC&I engineering solutions for industrial and nuclear projects.
  • Produce and review detailed EC&I documentation, including specifications, calculations, drawings, and safety assessments.
  • Provide technical oversight for control systems, instrumentation, electrical distribution, and safety‑related equipment.
  • Support project lifecycle activities including concept design, FEED, detailed design, installation, commissioning, and handover.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and site licence requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical governance within the team.
  • Engage with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Participate in hazard studies, design reviews, and engineering assurance processes.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong background in EC&I engineering within a regulated or safety‑critical environment.
  • Experience with control systems, instrumentation selection, electrical design, and functional safety principles.
  • Ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation and lead design packages.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as BS EN 61508, BS EN 60204, or equivalent.
  • Experience working on multi‑disciplinary engineering projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions.
  • Candidates from nuclear, oil & gas, energy, utilities, chemicals, or similar sectors are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered status or working toward it is advantageous.
  • Additional training in functional safety, nuclear standards, or project management is beneficial.
