12-month temporary contract for an Electrical Design Engineer

Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking to lead impactful building services projects in a complex and rewarding environment? My client is offering a 12-month fixed-term opportunity to join a high-performing Estates & Facilities team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on managing diverse construction projects—from planned maintenance and refurbishments to new builds—while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and consultants. Internal staff will be eligible to apply after 12 months, making this a great stepping stone for career progression.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Deliver electrical engineering design and project management across a variety of construction projects.
  • Develop innovative, cost-effective electrical solutions that meet regulatory and client requirements.
  • Oversee site works, ensuring compliance with design specifications, legal standards, and health & safety regulations.
  • Lead internal and external design teams, optimising resources and maintaining project efficiency.
  • Provide budgetary advice and manage project finances in line with procurement and audit procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety and sustainability throughout all project activities.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong track record in electrical building services engineering for new builds and refurbishments.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software (e.g., Amtech, Relux, Dialux).

  • Based in a vibrant university setting with access to modern facilities and a collaborative working culture.
