Electrical Maintenance Engineer required for a university based within the Manchester area.

Your new company

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our Estates & Facilities team at a university within Great Manchester. You will play a vital role in maintaining and improving the electrical infrastructure across our diverse and dynamic campus, supporting world-class teaching, research, and student life.

Your new role

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems across campus buildings.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and lab equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with current electrical regulations (e.g., BS 7671).
  • Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, and academic departments to deliver high-quality service.
  • Maintain accurate records of work, inspections, and system performance.

What you'll need to succeed

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) certification.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a large or complex estate.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.
Desirable
  • Experience working in a university, hospital, or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and energy monitoring tools.
  • City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent in Inspection & Testing.
