We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established and growing building services engineering consultancy, known for delivering high‑quality mechanical, electrical and low‑carbon design solutions.Your new role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be based from the company’s West Midlands office, working as part of a collaborative multi‑disciplinary design team. You will be involved in all stages of the electrical design process and contribute to a varied portfolio of technically interesting projects.
- Working on a range of building services projects across multiple sectors
- Producing electrical design drawings, calculations and technical specifications
- Carrying out both manual and software‑based design calculations
- Coordinating with mechanical and other design disciplines
- Selecting appropriate systems, plant and equipment to meet project requirements
- Managing your own design workload to ensure quality, programme and budget targets are met
- Attending and contributing to selected design and project meetings
- Supporting the delivery of sustainable and low‑/zero‑carbon design solutions
- Reviewing site installations to ensure compliance with the design intent
- Maintaining an understanding of other building services disciplines
- Continuing professional development and keeping up to date with new technologies
What you'll need to succeed
A Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering, or HNC/HND equivalent- A minimum of 1 year’s post‑qualification experience in building services electrical design
- Experience using design software such as Microsoft Office, Relux/Dialux, Amtech and Revit
- Knowledge of British and European Standards and Building Regulations
- A working knowledge of BREEAM
- Experience or interest in incorporating renewable and low‑carbon technologies
- Membership of, or working towards membership of, CIBSE or IET
- An appreciation of mechanical services to support multidisciplinary coordination
- Knowledge of HTM guidance (desirable but not essential)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
