Electrical Engineer – Maintenance
Location: East-Central London
Salary: £30/hour
Job Type: Long-term Temporary
Working Hours: 08:00-16:00/09:00-17:00

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join the maintenance team at a prestigious university in East-Central London. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the electrical infrastructure remains safe, functional, and compliant with industry regulations.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of a large university estate, carrying out essential maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work to support students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and electrical repairs across campus buildings
  • Inspecting, testing, and maintaining electrical systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements
  • Carrying out installation and upgrade work on electrical components and systems
  • Ensuring health and safety standards and regulations are strictly followed
  • Assisting with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Collaborating with other maintenance and facilities teams to ensure smooth operations

Requirements:
  • Recognised electrical qualifications (such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2365/2382, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in an electrical maintenance role, ideally within large commercial or educational facilities
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including distribution boards, wiring, and emergency lighting
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations, including BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve faults independently and work efficiently within a team
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
