We are recruiting on behalf of a leading multidisciplinary property consultancy for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding MEP team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects across the UK, including commercial offices, retail, industrial, and large-scale residential developments (BTR, PRS, student accommodation).
This role offers genuine flexibility, career progression, and the chance to contribute to sustainability and decarbonisation strategies within the built environment.
- Deliver electrical design packages across a variety of projects
- Produce technical specifications, drawings, and reports
- Attend site inspections and client/contractor meetings
- Support technical due diligence, dilapidations, and PPM surveys
- Contribute to project monitoring and sustainability initiatives
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop best practices and standard documentation
- Mentor junior engineers and support CPD activities
- Assist in budget cost estimates and project planning
- Maintain individual financial performance and pipeline
What you'll need to succeed
Experience & Qualifications:- Experience in building services design (consultancy or contractor background)
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services (BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng)
- Working towards or already achieved Chartered Engineer status (e.g., MCIBSE)
- Strong understanding of LV distribution, lighting systems, ELV systems, and BS 7671
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Amtech/Trimble, Dialux/Relux, and Revit
- Experience with technical specifications and drawing production
- Familiarity with Building Regulations and design standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commercial awareness and client-facing confidence
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly
