Electrical Engineer, Fairford, Full time, Permanent

Your new company
A leading facilities and engineering services provider is seeking three Electrical Engineers / Electrical Testers to join its established team supporting a large and diverse defence estate in Gloucestershire. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly secure environment, maintaining critical infrastructure across operational facilities, commercial buildings, hangars and residential accommodation.

Your new role
As an Electrical Engineer & Tester, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of electrical systems across the estate.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Completing Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and fixed wire testing.
  • Undertaking distribution board inspections and electrical compliance checks.
  • Performing emergency lighting testing and associated remedial works.
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults across commercial and domestic installations.
  • Carrying out minor electrical installations and upgrades.
  • Supporting the maintenance of specialist electrical infrastructure.
  • Responding to emergency call-outs as part of an on-call rota.
  • Building strong working relationships with customers, stakeholders and colleagues across the site.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with current regulations, health and safety standards and contractual requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a varied and technically challenging estate, including specialist facilities and operational environments not typically encountered in traditional commercial settings.

The standard working pattern is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm. You will also participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota, which provides emergency cover between 4:30pm and 8:00am, including weekends. Engineers are required to respond to emergency callouts within one hour when on duty.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification, or equivalent.
  • Experience within commercial, industrial, critical infrastructure or large-scale facilities environments.
  • Strong fault-finding, testing and inspection capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
Desirable:
  • Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) experience or qualifications.
  • Experience working within defence, aviation, industrial or highly regulated environments.
