Electrical Design Engineer - Birmingham

Your new company

We are supporting an established, multi‑disciplinary consultancy that is continuing to grow its building services division in Birmingham. They work across a wide range of sectors and have built a strong reputation for delivering sustainable, high‑quality engineering solutions. Due to continued demand and a strong pipeline of projects, they are now looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer to strengthen their existing team.

Your new role

You will join a collaborative building services team, working on both new‑build and refurbishment schemes across all RIBA stages. Your responsibilities will include producing detailed electrical designs, using CAD and BIM (Revit) software, developing project‑specific solutions, and coordinating closely with architects, structural engineers, surveyors and contractors. You’ll also support clients with advice around energy efficiency and carbon reduction. The company offers structured mentoring and clear pathways for professional development, including support toward chartership.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have a degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, alongside previous experience in an electrical design role. Progress towards chartership is desirable but not essential. Strong communication skills, the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team, and a proactive, organised approach are key to succeeding in this position.

What you'll get in return

You’ll receive a salary of up to £45,000 plus a generous benefits package including 25 days annual leave (with options to buy, sell or carry over), three paid volunteering days, mental health support, life assurance, pension and income protection. You will also have access to private medical insurance, private GP services, discounted gym membership and a flexible hybrid working approach. Additional benefits include development pathways aligned to your professional goals, potential performance bonus and a car allowance depending on the role level.
