Ellesmere Port, TA required for reception class. Long-term contract starting in January.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ellesmere Port-based single form entry primary school as they are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced early years teaching assistant to support the reception class on a long-term full-time basis. This is an ongoing contract that will last the rest of the academic year (subject to funding) with hours consisting of 8:30am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday.


Your new role

As an early years teaching assistant within this school, you will support the reception class teacher in offering an engaging and stimulating learning environment. You will aid in general classroom and behaviour management by utilising all learning equipment and implementing positive behaviour strategies such as "Now & Next" and traffic light systems. You will offer one-to-one and group support to your new pupils and take a lead on phonics (using RWI phonics scheme). You will also offer guided reading and writing and aid in the social and emotional development of pupils via Learn Through Play.


What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience within early years in the last two years, as well as:

  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience delivering phonics sessions and using either RWI or Jolly Phonics schemes
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
