Design Technology Teacher – Product Design & Resistant Materials
Location: Preston
Start: September 2026
Contract: Full‑time, long‑term temporary (until Easter 2027)
Pay: To scale from day one

A mainstream secondary school in Preston is seeking a Design Technology Teacher with strengths in Product Design and Resistant Materials to join their team from September. This is a long‑term role running through to Easter 2027, paid to scale from the first day.

About the Role
As a Design Technology Teacher, you’ll be joining a well‑established DT department with excellent facilities and a supportive leadership team. The school is looking for someone who can deliver engaging, practical and theory‑based lessons across KS3 and KS4, with a particular focus on Product Design and Resistant Materials.
You’ll be responsible for planning, delivering and assessing high‑quality lessons that inspire creativity, problem‑solving and technical skill development. The department values innovation, hands‑on learning and a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging DT lessons across KS3–KS4 with a focus on Product Design and Resistant Materials
  • Plan and assess in line with curriculum requirements
  • Maintain a safe, well‑organised workshop environment
  • Support students of all abilities, encouraging progress and confidence
  • Contribute to departmental development and collaborative planning

What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge in Product Design and Resistant Materials
  • Experience teaching in a UK secondary school setting
  • A proactive, creative and resilient teaching style
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
