Hays Education is working in partnership with a highly regarded independent school in Lewisham to recruit a creative and enthusiastic Teacher of Art and Design Technology (DT) for a position starting in September.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and passionate teacher to join a successful independent school that places a strong emphasis on creativity, innovation, and academic excellence. The successful candidate will teach both Art and Design Technology, encouraging students to develop their practical skills, creativity, and confidence across a range of disciplines.

Your new role

The successful candidate will teach Art and Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5 teaching depending on experience and specialism.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to think creatively, solve problems independently, and develop a strong understanding of design processes and artistic techniques.

Working within well-resourced departments, you will help students produce high-quality work whilst fostering a genuine appreciation for creativity and design.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Art and Design Technology within a UK secondary school
  • Strong subject knowledge across both curriculum areas
  • The ability to deliver engaging, practical, and differentiated lessons
  • High expectations of student achievement and behaviour
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to contributing to the wider life of the school
