QSW - Childrens - Team Manager - Adolescent Safeguarding

Your new company

The Family and Youth Resilience Service, part of Early Help, includes targeted and statutory services. The Adolescent Safeguarding Team focuses on vulnerable adolescents (13-18) facing issues like exploitation and serious youth violence. They require skilled social workers to engage with at-risk adolescents, their families, and partners like the police. The team works with other service teams to support families in crisis.

Your new role

  • Provide operational management and leadership support across service areas.
  • Support the Head of Family and Youth Resilience and other Heads of Service.
  • Manage up to 5 Senior Practitioners/Social Workers/Social Work Assistants, Youth Worker, Counselling Psychologist, or Family Therapist.
  • Ensure high-quality interventions, effective case management, decision-making, and overall performance.
  • Oversee adolescents across the social care spectrum from referral to care proceedings.
  • Work with adolescents who are hardest to reach and carry the most risk.
  • Quality assure work undertaken with adolescents.
  • Focus on singular children, not sibling groups.
  • Keep children at home where safe and in their best interests.
  • Use the client's social work practice model, Signs of Safety, and adhere to quality standards and procedures.
  • Attend operational management meetings.
  • Represent the client at operational and strategic multi-agency meetings.
  • Lead on building relationships with schools.


What you'll need to succeed

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level with a social work qualification and HCPC registration

  • Evidence of continuing professional development


Skills and Experience

  • Extensive social work practice with vulnerable children and adolescents, especially within statutory frameworks like youth justice and social care.
  • Ability to manage high-risk situations, including safeguarding and public protection.
  • Experience managing caseworkers dealing with adolescents and families facing contextual safeguarding issues.
  • Proven track record in managing teams, performance, and professional development.
  • Effective risk management in services for vulnerable children, young people, and the public.
  • Strong background in integrated, multi-agency working.
  • Proficient in recording, monitoring, evaluating, and quality assurance of case work using various tools and systems.
  • Deep understanding of risk management and safeguarding in social care, including relevant legislation and policies.
  • Skilled in using data and evidence to inform decision-making.
  • Experience addressing equality and diversity issues in practice and taking action to resolve them.
