Design Technology Technician for Nelson School - Starting September - Temporary

Hays Education is currently recruiting for a temporary Design Technology Technician to join a dynamic and creative technology team at a school based in the Nelson area. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the delivery of engaging lessons - particularly in Product Design, Textiles, Engineering and Resistant Materials - by providing timely and effective technical assistance to teaching staff. Your work will help the department and the school achieve their educational goals.

This is a temporary term-time only role, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday - 8am - 4pm.

Your new role

  • Preparing, setting up, and checking equipment for technology lessons
  • Supporting teaching staff and students during practical sessions
  • Clearing away equipment and maintaining a safe, organised environment
  • Organising, storing, and managing stock and materials
  • Maintaining and carrying out minor repairs on equipment
  • Handling administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and updating records
  • Organising and storing students’ work

What you'll need to succeed

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in art, design, or technology-related activities
  • Good working knowledge of design technology techniques, kitchen and workshop tools, and materials
  • A strong commitment to health and safety in a school setting
  • A genuine passion for supporting students’ learning and development
