IT Operations Manager

Are you an ambitious IT Operations Manager looking for a new challenge for a leading school in the heart of London?

As the IT Operations Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the IT department, managing the IT team, prioritising support requests and ongoing tasks, and overseeing operational IT service delivery during this focused documentation period. This is a hands-on management role requires strong leadership, technical understanding, and excellent organisational skills within a busy educational environment.

In this role you will:
  • Lead, manage, mentor, and support the existing School IT team.
  • Oversee the management of the IT helpdesk queue and workload, in consultation with the Helpdesk Manager, ensuring timely and effective resolution of support requests from staff and students.
  • Prioritise incoming IT issues and projects based on urgency and impact, in consultation with the Director and Deputy Director of Digital Strategy.
  • Oversee the operational maintenance and monitoring of the School's IT infrastructure, including servers, network equipment, and end-user devices.

Your profile:
  • Proven experience in an IT management or leadership role, preferably within an educational or similarly complex environment.
  • Demonstrable experience managing and leading an IT support or operations team.
  • Strong understanding of typical school IT infrastructure, including Windows server environments, Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, O365/Microsoft 365), networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi), and end-user device support (Windows and potentially macOS/iOS).
  • Experience with IT service management principles (e.g., ITIL) and helpdesk ticketing systems.
  • Experience with Apple products
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively under pressure.
  • Understanding of IT security best practices.
  • A proactive and hands-on management approach.
