As a smaller organisation, Keniston offers a hands-on, collaborative environment where individuals can make a visible impact and take real ownership of their work.
The Role
Keniston is seeking a Technical Officer to support the delivery of responsive repairs, voids, and planned maintenance across its housing stock.
This is a varied, site-focused role where you’ll act as the key technical point of contact, ensuring works are delivered to a high standard, on time, and with excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out pre- and post-inspections of repair works, identifying defects and ensuring quality standards are met.
- Diagnose building issues and specify appropriate remedial works
- Oversee void properties, including inspections, scoping works, and monitoring progress to completion
- Act as Clerk of Works on larger void projects and planned programmes such as redecorations and component replacements
- Manage contractors on site, ensuring delivery against time, cost, and quality expectations
- Provide technical advice to internal teams and support decision-making on repair issues
- Identify major defects or insurance-related issues and support claims processes
- Maintain accurate records and reporting using digital systems
About You
- Strong practical knowledge of building construction, repairs, and defect diagnosis
- Experience in a Technical Officer, Repairs Inspector, Clerk of Works, or similar role
- Background in housing, property maintenance, or construction
- Confident managing contractors and overseeing work on site.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service and resident satisfaction
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle required
Why Join Keniston?
- Opportunity to work in a close-knit, supportive team
- A hands-on role with real ownership and variety across repairs, voids, and projects
- Strong focus on delivering high-quality homes and resident outcomes
- Chance to make a visible impact within a community-driven organisation
