Business Support Officer, Ballymena, Part-time, 22.5 hours, £15.31 per hour

Your new company

A public sector organisation is recruiting for a Business Support Officer based in Ballymena.

Your new role

As a Business Support Officer, you will provide comprehensive administrative and technical support within a busy, customer-facing service area. You will be a key first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, handling a wide range of enquiries while ensuring accurate record keeping and effective information management.
Your responsibilities will include managing correspondence, updating internal systems, processing payments, maintaining confidential records and supporting officers with reports, meetings and statutory returns. You will also assist with updating service information and contribute to the continuous improvement of internal systems and processes.
This is a part-time position (22.5 hours per week), working mid to end-of-week, offering an excellent opportunity for work–life balance while remaining in a professional and fast-paced environment.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate previous experience in a business support, administration or office-based role within a high-volume environment. You will be confident dealing with the public and external organisations, with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines.
You will also need:
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and related systems
  • Experience using computerised information or records management systems
  • A practical, methodical approach with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider support team
Relevant qualifications in English and Maths are desirable, though equivalent experience in a professional office environment will also be considered.

What you'll get in return

In return, you will receive a competitive salary aligned to local government pay structures, alongside access to a generous public-sector pension scheme. You will benefit from a structured induction, opportunities for skills development, and the chance to build long-term experience within a respected organisation.
This role offers:
  • Part-time hours with predictable working days
  • A supportive team culture
  • Exposure to a specialist professional service area
  • Strong job security and public-sector benefits
If you are looking for a part-time administrative role where your contribution genuinely makes an impact, this is an excellent opportunity to consider.
