Credit Controller

Your new company

You will be joining a growing and forward-thinking professional services organisation with a strong presence across the UK and Ireland. Known for its collaborative culture and modern approach, the business works closely with SMEs to provide trusted financial and advisory services.
With continued growth and investment in people, the finance function plays a key role in maintaining strong client relationships and supporting business performance. They are now looking to appoint a Credit Controller to join their Cardiff team on a hybrid basis.

Your new role

As a Credit Controller, you will play a key role in managing client accounts and ensuring the timely collection of outstanding debt, while maintaining strong client relationships.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing and monitoring outstanding balances across client accounts
  • Chasing overdue payments via phone, email, and written communication
  • Negotiating payment plans with customers where required
  • Allocating payments and reconciling customer accounts
  • Investigating and resolving payment discrepancies and queries
  • Supporting monthly reporting on aged debt, cash flow, and payment trends
  • Working closely with internal teams to resolve credit-related issues
  • Ensuring processes align with company credit control policies and procedures
This is a hands-on and relationship-focused role, offering exposure to both transactional processes and stakeholder engagement.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or collections
  • Strong understanding of debt collection and credit management processes
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations professionally
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and finance systems
