Interim Financial Controller - Initially 6 Months

Your new company

I am currently representing a South Coast based commercial business who are recruiting for an Interim Financial Controller. Initially the role will be for 6 months to cover a period of illness. The position reports to the Finance Director and has overall responsibility for the finance team and production of the month end accounts.


Your Role Responsibilities:

Supervise and oversee accounts payable and credit control and implement new processes and procedures in order for the department to run more efficiently.
Manage treasury activities according to company policy, be the main contact for bank, manage cash flow, forecasting, currency trades.
In house VAT expert (UK & International), maintain system compliance with VAT regulations. Oversee VAT, ESL & Intrastat returns. Prepare and submit annual PSA returns.
External Audit: support as required.
Overheads: month end accounting & reporting. Partner with budget holders across the business to prepare budgets, forecasts, and periodic variance analysis. Provide financial insight to budget holders.
Capex: month end accounting and cost analysis for project managers. Detailed project cost reporting & support for major projects.
Payroll: support HR dept with monthly payroll process.
AR: Liaise with Sales to risk assess/set customer terms and limits. Support Customer Service with sales invoicing queries as required.
Projects: Support business by contributing to projects as and when required. Lead process improvement/compliance projects in the accounts dept.

What you'll need to succeed

You should be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and have had previous experience in running a small accounts department. Working and manipulating systems in order to get the best out of them will be essential and defining new processes and creating efficiencies will be key to this role.
