Warrington. SEMH school, 1:1 support in KS3. Long-term full-time contract.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Warrington-based SEMH school that supports pupils between KS2 - KS4 year groups as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term full-time contract. This is an extremely supportive and welcoming school that requires support for a pupil in KS3.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a pupil in KS3 with SEMH that has been struggling to keep up with the curriculum due to behavioural and emotional needs. Last academic year they unfortunately spent 50% of their time outside the classroom and, as such, have fallen behind on the curriculum. Due to this, you will support them on a 1:1 basis in all aspects of school life. You get to know them as an individual, their learning style and interests, in turn associating learning material with their interests and adapting lessons to their learning style to promote engagement and focus. You will also offer intense interventions to bring them up to speed. Due to previous trauma, they will at times present challenging behaviours. You will implement positive behaviour strategies that they best respond to, such as brain breaks, movement breaks, and positive reinforcement, with a focus on keeping them in the classroom and engaging in lessons.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable classroom experience, and:

  • Experience supporting SEN (ideally SEMH or behavioural needs)
  • Good knowledge of the KS2 curriculum (KS3 is also valuable)

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, guidance and dedication of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits that include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Long-term contract
  • Competitive rate of pay
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Company pension scheme
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
