Hays Education are working on behalf of a highly-regarded specialist provision in South Manchester to recruit a passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant for a September start. This inclusive school supports pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as associated learning and behavioural challenges. The school is part of a forward-thinking trust that prioritises trauma-informed practice, emotional regulation, and individualised learning. With small class sizes, a strong pastoral ethos, and a therapeutic approach to behaviour, the school provides a safe and structured environment where every pupil is supported to succeed.
Your New Role
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and complex needs
- Assisting with the delivery of a broad and creative curriculum
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Helping to create a calm, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly SEMH, ASC, or behavioural needs
- A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply through Hays)
- Relevant qualifications such as Team Teach, MAPA, or a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential.
