An HR Officer job (Maternity Cover) on a fixed term basis with a London-based school

Your new role

To provide an efficient and well-organised system for the administration of HR, Payroll and Cover arrangements at the Academy. The HR/Cover Administrator is also responsible for keeping the Academy’s cover and absence systems of operations (SIMS/PS People and other shared electronic documents), including the Academy Single Central Register, up-to-date and current in coordination with HR System Processes, policies and procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in HR Administration: Proven experience in managing personnel files, payroll coordination, and HR-related documentation.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to efficiently arrange and manage cover arrangements, including liaising with agency suppliers and coordinating internal cover supervisors.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing and approving timesheets, purchase orders, and invoices, as well as maintaining accurate records for audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to notify staff of daily cover arrangements, draft employee contracts, and provide accurate staffing information to management.
  • Data Management: Proficiency in managing both manual and computer-based record systems, analysing data, and producing necessary reports.
  • Confidentiality and Discretion: Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive HR and payroll information.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of policies and procedures related to child protection, health and safety, data protection, and equal opportunities.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to establish constructive relationships with staff and external agencies, and contribute positively to the overall ethos and aims of the school.
