Cover Supervisor | Secondary School Job | North London | HAYS Education

Hays Education are seeking reliable, confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across North London.

We are working in partnership with a large network of schools and academies that require skilled Cover Supervisors to provide classroom supervision in the absence of teaching staff. These opportunities are ideal for graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced Cover Supervisors, teaching assistants looking to progress, or individuals with experience working with young people.

With daily, short-term and long-term assignments available, this role offers flexibility and valuable experience within secondary education.

Your new role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students remain on task
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate
  • Record attendance and report on lesson outcomes
  • Work across a variety of subjects and year groups
No planning or marking is typically required for day-to-day cover assignments.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, mentoring or youth work setting
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Confident leading groups of students in a classroom environment
  • Flexible, professional and adaptable approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting student success
A degree is desirable but not essential.
