New Purchasing Manager opportunity with a reputable manufacturer in Lancashire - £55-60K

Your new company

A well-known global manufacturing company based in Burnley is seeking a dynamic and ambitious Purchasing Manager to join their high-performing procurement team. The business has won multiple awards over the years for their products, and they are rated an excellent place to work by employees.

Your new role

As Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the procurement team and delivering impactful cost savings for the company. In this capacity, you will work closely with the Head of Procurement to devise and deliver an effective procurement strategy which aligns to the overall company objectives. You will negotiate with suppliers on pricing and contractual terms to ensure that the best value for money is achieved, whilst building and maintaining a strong commercial relationship with your suppliers. You will work with your suppliers to review their ongoing performance against cost, quality and service levels and will strategically manage these relationships. As Purchasing Manager, you will also manage the MRP system for all direct inventory, reviewing current stock levels and managing any obsolete stock. Managing a team of 4 in the procurement team, you will conduct 1-2-1 meetings and set objectives, and you'll be responsible for delivering the Team's annual savings targets.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A proven background in Procurement Management gained within the manufacturing industry

  • Experience of using SAP

  • Experience of managing people and leading a procurement team

  • Demonstrable experience of supplier sourcing, negotiation and contract management

  • Ideally you will be MCIPS qualified or working towards qualification
