Contracts Manager - Oxford

Contracts Manager – Oxford
Salary: £80,000 – £90,000 + Car Allowance + Pension
Location: Oxford / Oxfordshire
Sectors: Education, Commercial, Healthcare, Leisure and Heritage

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a well-established regional main contractor with a strong presence across Oxfordshire and the wider South of England.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, the business is looking to appoint a Contracts Manager to oversee multiple projects across the region. This is a key role within the operational team, suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects from early preconstruction and mobilisation through to successful delivery on site.

The role would suit an experienced Contracts Manager, or a Senior Project Manager ready to step up, who has a strong main contracting background and is comfortable managing site teams, clients, consultants and supply chain partners across multiple live schemes.

The Company
Our client is a highly regarded regional contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering quality projects across a broad range of sectors, including education, commercial, healthcare, leisure, heritage and refurbishment. They are known for their collaborative approach, strong client relationships and ability to deliver high-quality schemes in a professional but non-corporate environment. Their projects typically range from £15m to £30m, with a strong pipeline of negotiated and repeat business across Oxford and the surrounding areas. This is a business that offers stability, local work, accessible senior management and long-term career prospects for people who take pride in delivering projects properly.

The Role
As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a number of projects across the Oxford region, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Design Managers, commercial teams and clients to provide operational leadership across the full project lifecycle.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing multiple projects from preconstruction and mobilisation through to completion
  • Supporting PCSA, tender and preconstruction stages with buildability, programme and delivery input
  • Managing Project Managers, Site Managers and wider site teams
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in line with programme, budget, quality and health & safety requirements
  • Working closely with commercial teams to monitor cost, risk, variations and procurement
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners
  • Reviewing project progress, identifying issues early and implementing practical solutions
  • Supporting design coordination, technical reviews and project mobilisation
  • Ensuring high standards of site delivery, client satisfaction and repeat business
  • Reporting into senior management on project performance, risk and programme

About You
You will be an experienced construction professional with a strong background in main contracting and a proven track record of managing projects across relevant sectors.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience as a Contracts Manager, or Senior Project Manager ready to step into a Contracts Manager role
  • Strong main contractor background, ideally within a regional or Tier 2 environment
  • Experience delivering projects from £10m+
  • Background across education, commercial, healthcare, leisure, heritage or refurbishment projects
  • Good understanding of preconstruction, PCSA, tendering and project mobilisation
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Excellent programme, commercial and risk management awareness
  • Confidence dealing with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams
  • SMSTS and CSCS Manager level preferred
  • A practical, hands-on approach with strong communication skills
