Exciting opportunity for a public-sector procurement expert seeking a fast-paced new challenge!

Are you an experienced procurement professional with a passion for driving strategic outcomes and delivering real impact in project work? If you have a proven track record in public sector procurement and enjoy working collaboratively to shape successful projects, this role could be the ideal opportunity for you!

My client is a leading organisation in the sustainable waste management sector, and they are seeking a Senior Procurement Officer to join their dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of key procurement projects and make a real difference in an environmentally conscious field. The role offers a chance to work on projects that have a meaningful impact, collaborate with diverse teams, and help ensure efficient and resilient supply chains.

Your new role:
  • Lead the development and execution of procurement strategies to ensure a reliable supply of critical goods, services, and works.
  • Independently run end-to-end tender processes which comply with the new Procurement Act 2023.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders throughout the end-to-end procurement process, from market analysis to contract award.
  • Drive continuous improvement by optimising supplier performance, achieving cost savings, and improving efficiency.
  • Champion sustainable procurement practices and collaborate with internal teams and key suppliers to mitigate risks and maximise value.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector procurement regulations while managing a range of procurement projects and frameworks.
Please note that this role is based full-time in the office, so you will need to be able to commit to travelling to the office in Leyland 5 days per week.

To be considered for this role, you will need:
  • A proven background in public-sector procurement at a similar level where you have been responsible for managing your own procurement projects from start to finish.
  • End-to-end tendering experience under PA23 (or PCR2015/FTS).
  • Ideally, you will be at least Level 5 CIPS qualified, but this is not an essential requirement.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent report writing skills, including the preparation of business cases, tender documents, and analysis of savings and improvements.
  • A keen eye for detail, a proactive approach, and a passion for driving sustainable, efficient, and effective procurement processes.
  • Ability to commute to the office in Leyland 5 days per week.

In return, you will receive:
  • Competitive salary between £45,700 - £48,900 depending on relevant experience.
  • 26 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), increasing with service.
  • Company pension scheme matched up to 5%.
  • Death in service scheme.
  • Cycle-to-work scheme and free on-site parking.
  • Comprehensive wellbeing and mental health support.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training to progress your career.
