Surfacing Contracts Manager - Reputable Surfacing Contractor

Your new role

As Operations/Contracts Manager, you will oversee the effective allocation of resources and the day‑to‑day planning of multiple contracts. You’ll be responsible for HSQE compliance, financial performance, and ensuring all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification. You will manage Contract Supervisors and wider operational teams, maintain strong relationships with customers and local authorities, and work closely with internal stakeholders such as Commercial, QS, Estimating, Technical, Production and Distribution. You’ll also play a key role in driving continuous improvement, supporting people development, and ensuring the region meets its commercial and operational targets.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Proven managerial experience within the aggregates, asphalt, or wider contracting sector
  • Strong knowledge of contracting methods, specifications and commercial principles
  • Ability to manage profit & loss and ensure contracts meet financial targets
  • Excellent leadership and predevelopment capability
  • Strong client‑facing and communication skills
  • CSCS qualification (essential)
  • Management qualification (ILM/NEBS/NVQ4) and NEBOSH/IOSH (desirable)
  • Ability to optimise resource allocation and improve operational efficiency
  • A proactive mindset with strong problem-solvers, planning and organisational skills
