Your new role

In this role, you will lead the development, review, and implementation of statutory compliance documents, Safe Systems of Work, and compliance-related policies to ensure all hard services align with current legislation and best practice. Additionally, you will oversee compliance management activities including surveys, insurance inspections, testing, risk-based remedial works, statutory Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and accurate certification/record keeping. As well as this, the role includes taking responsibility for statutory audits and quality inspections of third-party service providers, which you will conduct. The aim is to ensure contractor competence, identify risks, and drive continuous improvement in compliance standards.

What you'll need to succeed

As an experienced professional, you will demonstrate capability in the provision of technical leadership and expert advice on Building Services Compliance, covering key statutory areas such as fire safety, electrical systems, gas, lifts, ventilation, water, and asbestos management. Your well-honed engagement skills will ensure success when collaborating with colleagues to develop technical specifications for maintenance and lifecycle projects, ensuring full legislative and regulatory compliance. As key technical liaison with consultants, local authorities and internal stakeholders, supporting complex issues such as fire safety and system failures, as well as overseeing day-to-day estates and facilities operations relating to statutory compliance, including managing repairs, maintenance, and project delivery. As an experienced manager of risk, you will be able to support business continuity and disaster planning, ensuring risk assessments are completed, actions implemented, and safety-critical information maintained to ensure transparency and compliance – continuously monitoring regulatory and industry developments, advising management on emerging risks, and implementing appropriate improvement strategies.
Where possible, you will have some experience of and the introduction of new technologies to improve safety, accountability, and operational efficiency and support, supporting the delivery of high-quality, value-for-money services. Additionally, possessing the ability to identify system inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and implement new technologies to enhance safety, accountability, and operational efficiency.
