Join a company shaping the future of sustainable business as the interim Group Tax Compliance Manager

Your new company

Hays are proud to be partnering with a forward-thinking organisation committed to excellence in environmental services and sustainable operations. With a strong presence across the UK, including Waste Treatment Plants, the business is known for its innovative approach and collaborative culture. As part of a growing group, the company offers a dynamic and supportive environment where professionals can make a real impact. Valuing expertise, integrity, and continuous improvement, we’re looking for someone who shares those values to join an expanding finance team.

Your new role

As Group Tax Compliance Manager, you’ll lead the charge in ensuring full compliance across direct and indirect tax obligations. This is a strategic and hands-on role, where you’ll manage tax planning, reporting, and liaise directly with HMRC. You’ll also support project bids to optimise tax efficiency and contribute to the production of statutory accounts and monthly management reports. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing and filing tax returns across the group
  • Managing tax payments and cash flow reporting
  • Supporting contract teams with tax-efficient bid strategies
  • Handling CIS, PAYE, and NI matters (experience in these areas is helpful but not essential)
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for HMRC
  • Contributing to financial reporting and statutory accounts
This is a full-time role with flexible remote working and occasional travel to operational sites and head office.

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll be a qualified finance professional (ACA / ACCA / CTA) with:
  • Strong experience in Corporation Tax and indirect tax
  • Proven track record in financial reporting and tax compliance
  • Excellent knowledge of UK tax laws and accounting standards
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and ERP systems
  • A detail-oriented mindset with strategic thinking capability
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to risk management
  • Ability to work independently and manage resources effectively

What you'll get in return

You'll be part of a team that’s shaping the future of sustainable business, offering more than just a role but a career with purpose. You’ll benefit from:
  • Flexible remote working arrangements
  • Opportunities to influence strategic decisions and drive change
  • A collaborative and inclusive team culture
  • Exposure to a broad range of tax and finance responsibilities
  • Support for continued professional development
