You’ll be joining a forward‑thinking public sector organisation undergoing significant commercial transformation. The commercial function plays a central role in delivering value, assurance and innovation across a diverse portfolio of spend. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the organisation’s IT commercial strategy and influence outcomes at a senior level.

Your new role

As the Commercial Manager, you will lead on all IT‑related procurement and contract management activity, overseeing a portfolio that includes contracts “ranging from £10,000 to over £1M”. You’ll manage the day‑to‑day commercial requirements of the Technology Business Services team, working closely with IT colleagues to deliver innovative, compliant and effective commercial arrangements.
You will take ownership of the full commercial lifecycle—developing category strategies, advising on frameworks, drafting contractual documentation, and driving supplier performance. You’ll also play a key role in building commercial capability across the organisation and supporting wider categories such as Property and Professional Services


What you'll need to succeed

To excel in this role, you’ll bring:

Professional procurement qualifications (MCIPS or willingness to work towards accreditation).
A proven track record of leading IT procurement within the public sector.
Strong knowledge of government frameworks such as Crown Commercial Service.
Extensive experience in contracting, contract management and supplier relationship management.
The ability to provide authoritative commercial advice and manage complex issues.
Experience delivering commercial strategies across the full lifecycle, including pricing models and specifications.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
Resilience, business acumen and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
