Your new company
An exciting new in house role has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our energy and utilities client as a strategic member of their in-house legal function in South Wales & the Southwest. This role will be a wide-ranging role supporting the General Counsel by providing a broad range of commercial advice to senior stakeholders across the business. You must be able to travel to their offices in Newport, however you will also be able to work flexibly from home for part of the week if desired.
Your new role
You will join this close-knit legal team in a senior role providing timely commercial advice to stakeholders from across the main functions of the business, including Procurement, Regulation, Health and Safety, Net Zero, HR and critically Infrastructure, Estates and Operations. Your broad new role will give you the opportunity to be involved in everything from drafting and negotiating Construction Contracts and Commercial Agreements, to providing strategic and commercially sensitive advice on Data Protection, Procurement Regulations, Commercial Disputes and Property Disputes.
Providing legal support to the business, you will have the opportunity to influence the business at a senior level and provide robust advice and guidance on risk management as well as regulatory obligations for operators in the utility and energy sectors.
What you'll need to succeed
Our client is looking for an experienced Commercial, Projects or Construction Lawyer with experience gained either in-house, or at a high quality national or regional law firm with exposure to advising clients in the utilities and energy sectors. You will be a strong technical lawyer with broad experience across the energy and utilities sectors.
