HAYS Recruitment is working with a leading organisation in York to recruit an experienced Plumber / Gas Engineer for a long‑term temporary assignment, with a strong possibility of the role becoming permanent.
Role Overview
You will be part of the on‑site estates team, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a commercial environment. This is a static role, working on one site only, providing a consistent and structured working week.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Undertaking plumbing and gas maintenance, repairs, and installations
- Responding to reactive issues as needed
- Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Ensuring all work meets compliance and safety standards
- Reporting directly to the Estates Manager

What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Plumber with Gas certification (domestic or commercial)
- Experience in commercial building maintenance
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
