Shape and develop the pricing function in a new role for this global firm
Your new company
Our client is a significant global consultancy with presence in nearly 100 countries. Well-regarded in assurance, advisory, consulting and taxation, in the UK they've seen healthy double-digit year-on-year growth, primarily organic with the occasional team acquisition. The company is really flexible and loves new ideas - they want everyone to feel like they can help shape the future of the firm. They're always looking for ways to get better, so you'll have a big say in how things are done.
The FP&A function is a critical interface between partners/business leaders and the finance function, and has been expanding over the last 4 years. New roles have been created with this expansion, and as part of this we are now hiring an experienced commercial Pricing Analyst.
Your new role
Such a great opportunity to shape this role and function. You'll join the FP&A team, which is full of strategic thinkers who help the business grow. You'll work closely with the FP&A manager and senior leaders to make sure the company is making the most profit through smart pricing. Although the FP&A Manager has significant pricing experience, this is such a critical function for the firm that it merits having its own job, hence the newly created role.
A full specification is of course available, but key points include:- Data Handling:
You'll be in charge of keeping all the pricing, cost, and rate data up to date, and you'll team up with developers to make the systems even better. - Helping with Pricing:
You'll assist with new pricing proposals and make sure they're spot on. - Keeping an eye on profits:
You'll monitor how profits are tracking against the original plans, identify any issues, and work with others to sort them out. - Creating financial models:
You'll help put together complex pricing proposals and model different scenarios, like worst-case situations. - Building relationships:
You'll get to know partners and leaders to ensure everyone is aligned on pricing strategies. - Spotting trends:
You'll help the finance team identify pricing trends and share this info in a way that's easy for everyone to understand. - Sharing best practices:
You'll help train the team on profitable pricing and keep the Pricing Policy up to date. - Forecasting new business:
You'll assist in setting up more reliable pricing in the CRM tool.
What you'll need to succeed
A part-qualified or qualified accountant, it's likely that you'll have been in finance for at least 4 years during which your last two years will have been focused exclusively or predominantly on pricing.
In addition you'll be/have:- Financial Analysis: your finance experience has given you strong analytical skills.
- Pricing : you've got experience in pricing going back at least 2 years
- Business savvy: you understand how the professional services business model works.
- Curious and proactive: you approach your job with a proactive and curious mindset.
- Stakeholder management: you're excellent at managing stakeholders and can engage with colleagues at all levels.
- Influential: you can use data-driven insights to influence senior stakeholders and build credibility.
- CRM Knowledge: You're familiar with CRM tools like Sugar, Salesforce, or similar.
- Excel: intermediate to advanced (occasional model-build required)
- Anaplan & Power BI skills: one or both of these would be a real plus.
What you'll get in return
No "dead men's shoes" - a genuine blank sheet of paper to make this role and function your own. NO "this is how we've always done it!"
Working with a close-knit, high-capability FP&A team, whose backgrounds come from a mix of professional services and other service industries
A proven track record of this firm creating new functions where necessary - if your role grows to a scale that's unmanageable for you then you'll be able to hire
Future internal opportunities in the finance function
Knowing you're a meaningful part of the firm's future direction and success
A tailored, individual career plan that helps you pursue your interests, matches your evolving needs, and maximises your potential
