Your new role
As the Clerk of Works, you'll be working primarily on residential properties and will:
- Inspect and report on construction works to ensure compliance with regulations and contract specifications.
- Oversee works during the defects period and manage handovers to clients and end users.
- Identify technical issues on-site, recommend corrective actions, and sign off on resolutions.
- Prepare and manage schedules of defects and ensure timely rectification.
- Witness site testing and commissioning activities.
- Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Provide technical advice and support to project teams.
- Review O&M manuals and home user guides for compliance.
- Record and follow up on client issues during the defects period.
- Deliver high levels of customer care and ensure swift resolution of issues.
- Stay up to date with current building regulations and construction techniques.
- Support the wider team in delivering a complete service to clients.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Essential:- Proven experience in a similar role within construction or property development.
- Strong knowledge of construction standards, regulations, and defect management.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Full UK driving licence
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable:
- Working towards or holding a professional qualification (e.g. CABE, RICS, CIOB, MICWCI).
- Degree or equivalent in a building-related discipline.
