6-month contract within the public sector for a Clerk of Works in Manchester
Your new company
I am currently supporting a respected public sector organisation in Greater Manchester in their search for an experienced Clerk of Works to join their capital projects team. This is an interim opportunity, initially offered on a 6-month basis, with a strong potential to be extended or made permanent for the right candidate.
Your new role
The role involves overseeing a varied portfolio of capital works projects, typically ranging in value from £1 million to £5 million, with some schemes exceeding this. You will be responsible for ensuring that construction works are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Acting as the client’s representative on site, you will monitor progress, identify and report on any issues or defects, and work closely with contractors and consultants to ensure that any problems are resolved efficiently.
What you'll need to succeed
This position requires someone with a strong background in construction and a keen eye for detail. You should have demonstrable experience in a Clerk of Works or similar role, ideally on public sector or complex capital projects. A solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and current regulations is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Professional qualifications such as ICWCI or CIOB membership would be advantageous.
