Job Opportunity: Town Centre Warden
Location: Gilford, Northern Ireland
Contract Type: 20 Hours per Week (Between Tuesday – Saturday)
Salary: Competitive
Job Purpose
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Town Centre Warden to help maintain Gilford’s town centre as a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, businesses, and visitors. The role involves routine maintenance, reporting issues, and acting as a point of contact for the local community.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
As Town Centre Warden, you will:
- Carry out routine litter picking and respond to areas of specific need.
- Clean and maintain public conveniences to a high standard.
- Remove graffiti and fly posting when required.
- Undertake weeding duties as necessary.
- Identify and report defects, disrepair, or vandalism to your supervisor.
- Report litter offences, including dog fouling.
- Act as a visible point of contact for the local community regarding town centre maintenance.
- Provide advice and assistance to members of the public, escalating issues to your supervisor when needed.
- Follow all Council health and safety rules, ensuring the safety of yourself, colleagues, and the public.
- Undertake any other relevant duties appropriate to the role.

- Reliable, hardworking, and committed to keeping Gilford clean and welcoming.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Confident in engaging with members of the public in a professional manner.
- Observant, with the ability to identify issues and take appropriate action.
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
- The post holder may be required to work additional hours and outside normal working hours to meet the needs of the service. This includes evenings, weekends and public holidays.
