Neighbourhood Caretaker - Temporary ongoing role - Birmingham City Council - ASAP start

Your new company

Birmingham City Council is one of Europe's largest local authorities, delivering essential services to communities across the city. The council is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Caretaker to join its team, supporting housing services in the Nechells and Newtown areas.

Your new role

As a Caretaker, you will play a key role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of council-managed properties. You will be responsible for supervising caretaking staff, working directly with tenants, and ensuring that health and safety standards are upheld at all times. This role requires a proactive approach to managing day-to-day site operations and responding to tenant needs. You will also be expected to oversee caretaking duties and ensure that communal areas are well maintained and compliant with safety regulations. This is a full time role, Monday - Friday.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you must have previous experience in a supervisory or caretaking position, strong interpersonal skills for working with tenants, and a solid understanding of health and safety practices. A full, clean UK driving license is essential, as you will be required to travel between sites in Nechells and Newtown.

What you'll get in return

You’ll receive a competitive hourly rate with an uplift after 13 weeks, the opportunity to work in a supportive team environment, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in your local community. This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large and respected local authority, with the potential for contract extension based on performance and service needs.
