A full-time Caretaker needed at a day centre in Moseley

Your new company

Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking to recruit a Caretaker for one of their adult day centres in the Moseley area. Being the largest leading local authority in the whole of Europe, Birmingham City Council are renowned for their expertise in public services and endless opportunities. Birmingham City Council provides the city’s residents with a number of services to ensure stability within citizens' daily lives.

Your new role

You will be working as part of the team to ensure the smooth running of the service, maintaining a clean, safe and secure environment. Key duties include:
  • Maintaining the security of the building and surrounding areas
  • Carrying out any maintenance and repairs as required
  • Abiding by health and safety regulations
  • Assisting in general cleaning and maintenance
  • Checking fire exits are kept clear and windows and doors are secure when the building is evacuated
  • Loading and transporting service users to and from the day centre
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and safety of vehicles
This role is initially until 31st March 2025.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to have had previous experience in a similar job role and be able to take care of any tasks required to ensure the maintenance of the service, including carrying out basic repairs, maintenance and safety checks. Within this role, you will need to use your initiative and be able to identify hazards and resolve them.
It is essential that you have an enhanced DBS for this role.

You will be paid a competitive hourly rate and have a guaranteed long-term, full-time role until March 2025, with further opportunities for permanent opportunities.
