School Caretaker required for a long term temporary basis in Widnes

We are currently recruiting for a school caretaker for a long-term temporary job in Widnes.

You will be working in a large two-form entry Primary School in Widnes reporting to the Headteacher and School Business Manager supporting with the daily running of the school and general maintenance and upkeep of the school premises and grounds.

The school is ideally looking for someone who can work split shifts but will consider someone working from 10.30am to 6.00pm.

Your new role

As a school caretaker caretaker, you will be expected to ensure that the school is kept safe, secure and clean. You will be responsible for:
  • Locking the buildings as required.
  • Dealing efficiently with planned maintenance.
  • Completing day to day establishment requirements and problems that may arise.
  • Completing daily and weekly health and safety checks across the school
  • Liaising with contractors attending the school site to complete maintenance work
  • Undertaking minor repairs to fixtures and fittings.
  • Monitoring the premises for any hazards, carrying out repairs and reporting problems.
  • Carry out any additional duties as required by the head.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to succeed in this role, you will need to have:
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, hygiene and security procedures.
  • Ability to communicate well.
  • Physically fit/ active for any lifting.
  • Basic DIY skills.
  • Ability to manage your own workload/ day.
  • You will need to be flexible and reliable
