Your new company
A specialist service provider for the rail industry. Their client base is most commonly composed of Train Operating Companies where they provide expertise on specialist services ranging from Ecology, Arboriculture, Vegetation Management, Environmental Services, Minor Construction, Civil Works & Fencing.
Your role will be split between site work and home based, they operate UK wide, however site visits usually occur in the southeast region (from East Anglia to Sussex). With a company vehicle, fuel card, PPE and sustenance allowance, you have the option to stay over in paid accommodation when visiting sites in a more distant location.
Ecology is a newer service that they provide, your expertise will be developed via some complex and interesting projects. Their ambitions for you are limitless, allowing you to eventually grow and lead a team. They made personal career development a priority for their staff and offer frequent training opportunities and funding for further education, licenses or accreditations.
Your new role
As an Ecologist in their expanding Environmental and Sustainability team, you’ll primarily work with rail infrastructure clients, but this can vary from utilities companies to local authorities. Main duties will include…
- Field work in relation to PEA's, Phase 1 & 2 surveys and EIA’s
- Report writing on surveys
- Client and stakeholder liaising
- Time management for successful project delivery in agreed timescale
- Working with a multidisciplinary team, mainly arboriculture
What you'll need to succeed
- A Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related
- Some experience in an ecological consultancy
- Proficiency in report writing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
- Associate CIEEM membership or higher (Required)
- Full UK Driving License (Required)
- Holder of one or more Protected Species Licenses (Beneficial)
